Balcony Garden

Five clay pots. A window over the city. A bag of seeds and a shelf of remedies your grandmother would recognise.

Balcony Garden is a slow, unforgiving plant-growing simulator. There are no moisture bars, no health percentages and no tooltips telling you what to do. You read the soil by its colour. You notice a leaf turning yellow. You flip through a strange old book with no table of contents and try to remember which plant it was that hated wood ash.

And time keeps flowing even when the game is closed.

FEATURES

- 30 plant species: cherry tomatoes, chili, cucumbers, basil, mint, lavender, rosemary, petunias, sunflowers and more. Each one has its own thirst, temper and lifespan.

- No visible stats. Judge moisture by the colour of the soil and health by the leaves.

- Real time. One in-game day lasts four real hours. Your garden keeps living while you're away. Forget to water the cucumber before bed, and you may wake up to a very different balcony. (There's a pause button, if you're leaving for a while.)

- Hidden hereditary diseases. Some seeds carry them from birth. Will you find the right cure in time?

- 20 fertilisers and remedies. One will save the plant, another will make it worse, and one will kill it outright. Only the book knows which is which.

- A book with no index. Pages come in no particular order. Read, remember, take notes.

- Paper notes next to every pot. Your own garden diary.

- Crisp 640x480 pixel art and a quiet ambient soundtrack.

- No shop, no currency, no grind. Seeds and supplies are unlimited. The only progress is what you've managed to grow.

Grow them all. Or at least try.

HOW TO PLAY

- Seeds: plant something in the current pot.

- Remedies: water the soil (watering can) or apply fertilisers and medicines. Hover to see the name.

- Book: the gardener's notes. All the answers are in there, somewhere.

- Arrows at the bottom: switch between your five pots.

- Save / Pause in the top right. The game also saves when you quit.

TIP: when the game starts, plant several different species and keep notes. You will lose plants. That's how you learn.
